A VISIT TO PLAZA MEXICO - LYNWOOD, CA

I have driven by PLAZA MEXICO which sits just off the US 105 Freeway in Lynwood, CA.for years and I finally decided to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the plaza is designed to be as similar to many of the town centers in many Mexican Cities in Mexico. There are many, many things for your senses to take in here. So it's comprised of both indoor and outdoor malls, and a Grand Open Air Circular Courtyard where everyone can enjoy treats, meals and entertainment. VISIT THE WEBSITE
Intricate Statues greet you as you enter- telling the tale of Mexico's rich history and culture.

The iron bench (shown above) was a testament to the skill and dedication of the artisans who performed their creative duties with great pride.

This vender in the mercado had close to 15 or 20 varieties of Mole' sauces.

Mole' (pronounced MOH-leh) is a rich, complex sauce that originates from Mexico, with roots tracing back to pre-Hispanic times and later influenced by Spanish colonial ingredients. It is most famously associated with the states of Puebla and Oaxaca, each offering distinct regional variations. Mole' is made by slow-cooking a blend of chiles, spices, nuts, seeds, herbs, and sometimes chocolate, creating a deeply flavorful and aromatic sauce. Traditional mole' recipes can include over 20 ingredients and require hours to prepare. Mole' is typically served over meats such as chicken or turkey and is often enjoyed during special occasions and celebrations. It’s commonly accompanied by rice and tortillas.

You can find lots and lots of traditional homemade candies and sweets from the various regions of Mexico.

There are a multitude of indoor shops or "mercados" to enjoy

CALDO DE RES (Beef Soup) is a delicious full meal treat! It consists of tender chunks of beef and vegeables including carrots, Chayote Squash, Zucchini, Corn on the Cob, and potatoes. The broth is delicious and everything pairs perfectly.
